Morgan Erickson

I grew up on my family's farm in Yankton County, South Dakota, about fifteen minutes outside of Vermillion. Because I graduated from Vermillion High School but wanted to stay in South Dakota, I decided to attend college at South Dakota State University where I studied English Writing. While at SDSU, I participated in the National Student Exchange Program and completed a semester at North Carolina State University, ending that program with a 4.0 GPA. Ultimately, I graduated from the South Dakota State Honor's College program, magna cum laude, with my degree in English Writing in 2015. I then took English graduate courses at SDSU while working as both a Technical Writer for Daktronics and teaching English Composition at SDSU. After nearly six years in Brookings, I left SDSU's graduate program with a 4.0 GPA to move back to Vermillion to attend law school.

During law school at the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law, I worked as a summer intern for the South Dakota Governor's Office and for Marlow, Woodward, & Huff, Prof. LLC. I was also a member of the Moot Court Board and attended four competitions. Of the four competitions, I was a back-to-back best oralist award recipient at two competitions: the Region-14 New York City Bar Moot Court Competition hosted in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the Frank A. Schreck Gaming Law Moot Court Competition hosted by the University of Las Vegas William S. Boyd School of Law. See Third-Year Law Student Reflects on Success in Moot Court | USD. My late father always imagined I would practice law, so my favorite memory is seeing how proud he was at my law school graduation ceremony in 2020.

Before joining Resolute Law Firm, I gained a variety of legal experience as a private practice attorney in civil, criminal, and family law. When I have free time, I make the most of it visiting with friends and family.
