Ann’s Biography

I grew up in the Black Hills in a close-knit family. My family always devoted their time to helping others, whether it be through work, school or in our personal lives.

In high school I became involved in many extracurricular clubs and volunteered in the community. As a youth in the community, I strived to be a voice of change. I sat on many youth advocacy boards as a member and spoke to the state legislature. During this time, I also co-founded two organizations which remain active in our high school, which promote the safety of our community’s youth.

To continue growing in my advocacy efforts, I participated in the Teen Court Juvenile Diversion Program. This program sparked my passion to continue advocating for those in need. I moved to the east side of the state to attend my undergraduate studies at the University of South Dakota, where I majored in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology. I continued my studies in the field of law by attending graduate school at the university.

During graduate school I interned for a family law attorney and helped start the pro se divorce clinic with the school. I later joined another law firm where I was able to broaden my legal knowledge through my work on files in the areas of estate and business planning.

As a family law paralegal at Resolute Law, I have further broadened my legal knowledge, working on guardianships, paternity, and abuse and neglect files.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband who I met during my undergraduate studies and our families. We enjoy watching football together, even if we don’t cheer for the same team!
